Whitaker McCulley

1927-2020

Wilma Whitaker McCulley, 92, of Stanford, KY passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Born on October 12, 1927 in Rockcastle County to the late William Whitaker and Fannie Norton Whitaker. She was a retired school teacher, where she taught at Rockcastle and Garrard County Schools. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church and volunteered with Ft. Logan Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, reading and traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula Starnes (Paul) of Stanford, KY and Sheila Starnes (Earl) of Stanford, KY; five grandchildren, Brian (Denise) Starnes, Chris (Gretchen) Starnes, Rachael (Aaron) Poole, Brooke (Bryan) Hart and Andrew (Chelsea) Starnes; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua Starnes, Emily Starnes, Mya Starnes, Riley Patterson, Aaden Poole, Gavyn Hart, Kyla Hart and Hudson Starnes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Morris McCulley, who passed in 2002; three brothers, Chester Whitaker, Lawrence Whitaker and Robert Whitaker; and one sister, Zelma Hayes.

A one-day service will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday with the Funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.

Pallbearers are Brian Starnes, Chris Starnes, Andrew Starnes, Bryan Hart, Aaron Poole and Riley Patterson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Murphy, Keith Bourne, Kendall Mink and Chad Spivey.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to the staff of Parkview Manor Assisted Living in Danville, KY and senior companion, Mrs. Nancy Doolin.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be donated to The Alzheimer’s Association.
