1942-2020
Bobbie Carol Doom died Friday February 14, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born in Danville on September 16, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Travis Johnson and Evelyn McDonald Richards. Carol graduated from Danville High School in 1960 and worked at National Life and Accident Insurance Co. for about 15 years. She worked at Ephraim McDowell House for several years and then became co-owner of H&R Block in Danville. She was a member of the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center auxiliary and enjoyed her volunteer work there. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in Happy Hearts activities and sometimes taught her women’s Sunday School class. Carol enjoyed serving as a teacher’s aid and was active in PTO while her children attended school and all activities with other parents such as selling Encyclopedias and being a baseball mom. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Danville, Boyle Co Homemakers Association and she loved to play bunco with her lifelong friends. An avid book reader, she owned hundreds of books. She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky sports, mostly football and basketball.
Carol is survived by her husband, Bobby, whom she was married to for 48 years; two children Richie (Virginia) Doom of Danville and Jamie (Rusty) Anderson of Frankfort; her grandson, William, and a sister, Vicki (David) Brown of Salvisa.
Visitation will be 11 am – 1 pm, Friday, February 21 at Calvary Baptist Church. The memorial service will be at 1pm. A private burial service will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.
