Books help understand what has happened to U.S. democracy

Our country has finally descended into a “Banana Republic”.  When the leader can direct the Justice Department to prosecute his enemies and exonerate his convicted cronies, you no longer live in a democracy.  The last defense that citizens of this country have is the ballot box.

There are two books that can shed light on what has transpired in our government during the last three plus years: Fascism: A Warning by Madeleine Albright and How Democracies Die by Steven Lavitsky and Daniel Ziblett. Both of these books are available in the Danville/Boyle Co. library.
