Pets of the Week

Published 6:23 pm Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Our featured pets this week are Callie and Ernie.

Callie

Callie is a sweet 1 ½-year-old tortoiseshell kitty. She was a pet of the week last November, but for some unknown reason has not yet found her forever home. Callie is a real beauty with bright yellow eyes and a cute tan stripe down her nose. She is a quiet girl and is content to rest on a perch in the kitty condo where she resides with other adult cats. Maybe it is Callie’s serene nature that has caused her to be overlooked. She certainly would be a wonderful addition to most any family looking for a beautiful and calm feline companion!

Ernie is a handsome 10-month-old Heeler mix that was surrendered for chasing the chickens at his previous farm home. Ernie is a cool-looking red merle in color and he weighs less than 35 lbs. He obviously had not been given much training in his first home, but this smart fellow should be a quick learner with lots of potential.

Ernie would do great in a home with someone who has the time to give him the one on one attention that he deserves. If you miss out on adopting Ernie, he has a brother named Bert that would make a great forever friend too!

The DBCHS has temporarily made changes to the hours we are open to the public. This will allow staff sufficient time to clean kennels, work areas and public spaces. Visitors are invited to come meet the adoptable animals Monday through Friday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. You can also view our adoptable pets on our website, www.dbchs.org and on our Facebook page. We have many beautiful dogs and kitties that would love to be part of your family!

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes.  Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment.  Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
