News release

The book drop at the Boyle County Public Library is now open for returns on Thursdays. The book drop was closed six weeks ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the state entering Phase I of reopening, the library will reopen the book drop on a limited basis following CDC and state guidelines.

To help ease the influx of materials, the outdoor book drop will initially be open once a week on Thursdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. when it will be relocked until the following week. All returned materials will be quarantined for 72-hours and will be handled according to CDC guidelines before being checked in.

Patrons with library materials are welcome to return items to the book drop when it is open on Thursdays. No overdue fines are being assessed on any materials, so patrons need not worry if they are currently unable to return borrowed items.

As long as the building remains closed to the public no fines will accrue. The reopening of the book drop on a limited basis is the first of many steps in the library’s re-opening process. As more services are re-introduced, they will be announced on the library’s Facebook pages (The Boyle County Public Library, Boyle County Public Library Children’s Programming, and Boyle County Public Library Genealogy & Local History) and on the library’s website, BoylePubLib.org.

In the meantime, patrons can continue to utilize the library’s online resources, including Overdrive and Hoopla, to download eBooks, audiobooks, movies, and more. These resources can be accessed at BoylePubLib.org/eMedia with either a physical or digital library card.

Patrons can also check out a number of virtual programs which are listed on the Events page on the library’s website. Information about the all-ages digital summer reading program, which begins on June 1, will be coming soon.

Anyone needing assistance registering for a digital library card or needing help accessing the online resources may contact the library Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. via email at library@boylepublib.org, or via Facebook Messenger at facebook.com/boylepublib. Patrons can also reach specific departments via the library’s website using the dropdown menu available on boylepublib.org/contact-us.

The Boyle County Public Library serves the city of Danville and the surrounding communities, and is actively committed to enriching the lives of its patrons. The library is located at 307 West Broadway in Danville.
