Pets of the Week

Published 4:31 pm Monday, June 8, 2020

Our featured pets this week are Stormy and Nash.

Stormy

Stormy is a beautifully plump 4-year-old gray and white female cat who came to the shelter because she and her roommates could not seem to get along. Although initially shy, her charming personality started to show as she welcomed the love and attention from staff.

Stormy would definitely thrive in a home where she can shine as an only pet. She has a hearty appetite and would benefit from scheduled dining options. Stormy is fixed, feline leukemia negative, vaccinated, and ready to brighten your home.

Nash is a good natured 2-year-old shepherd mix with a soft brown coat. He came to the shelter after appearing on someone’s porch with no home to call his own. Now that he has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, Nash is ready for his forever home.

Nash

Nash has a bounce to his step, especially in route to the play yard. He was recently introduced to the kiddie pool, but showed no interest in swimming.

Nash relishes his belly rubs and would make a great walk/jog companion with basic instruction. He is sure to put a pep in your step with his enthusiasm.

June is celebrated as National Adopt-A-Shelter cat month. If you are considering adopting a cat or kitten here are five reasons why cats make great pets.

Provide a clean litter box and cats house train themselves! Cats can easily live in smaller homes and apartments. Some kitties are very quiet and some are more vocal, but they don’t bark! Cats are fun and will entertain you with their cute and quirky behaviors. They provide warmth. Nothing is as cozy as a cat curled up on your lap on a cold winter evening!

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered
