Man stabbed while driving, woman arrested and charged

An off-duty Danville Police officer arrested a woman following a stabbing Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Carrigan Drive and Patrician Place.
According to a statement from the Danville Police Department, the incident took place at 1:11 p.m. Sunday. The assault took place while the victim was operating a vehicle, according to the report, and the suspect, who was sitting in the rear seat behind him, attacked him with a knife.
The victim, 45-year-old Richard Worthington of Danville, was transported by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, Melissa Inman, 39 of California, was arrested and charged with assault 2nd degree (domestic), wanton endangerment 1st degree, assault 3rd degree (police officer), and resisting arrest. She was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center.
Danville Police, Danville City Fire and Boyle County EMS all responded to the incident.
