Concert to benefit Pioneer Playhouse

The band Powerplay will give a free concert to help raise money to support Pioneer Playhouse on Thursday, Aug. 20 beginning at 8 p.m. at the playhouse on Stanford Road. Donation boxes will be set up and a bar and concession stand will be open.

Powerplay is known for its “funkadelic sounds” of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Masks are required until seated. Pioneer Playhouse is Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theater.

Construction to alter Second Street parking lot temporarily

Due to construction on a building facing the city’s Second Street permit parking lot that begins Aug. 24, six parking spaces will be temporarily closed.

When entering the Second Street lot from Second Street, heading west, the last six parking spaces on the left will be used as an exit lane to Larrimore Lane for cars parked on the north side of the lot.

Drivers are reminded to use caution with passing through the exit lane near the construction area. If anyone has questions, they may call the city engineer at (859) 238-1200.
