Extra holiday market added

The Boyle County Farmers Market will have an outdoor holiday market on Saturday and will have night markets on Thursday nights at the Danville Country Club. These two events will let customers to continue to support local farmers and artisans, even though the summer market is closed.

Laura Richard, Danville Country Club’s Membership & Marketing Director and Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and Boyle County Farmers Market Manager Jeff Jewel, have teamed up to create “Night Market” at the country club. Guests of the event have the opportunity to “sip & shop” their way around the ballroom where there will be a rotating array of vendors every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. through Dec. 17.

Similar in style to Lexington’s Night Market, each Thursday evening will feature local farmers’ meats, cheeses, jams, jellies, breads, and more. Plus local artisans such as woodworkers, painters, and jewelry makers will have their crafts for sale.

In addition to the shopping experience, you can sip on your favorite cocktail, and on some evenings they can enjoy live music.

The first night market was held Nov. 12 with seven vendors attending including Poorhouse Sorghum, Appalachian Arts, Poppin’ J’ Kettle corn, The Rooster’s Whistle Coffee, Tallulah Farm, Larland Beef, and the Boyle County Humane Society.

This Thursday night there will be four more vendors attending. In a year where COVID-19 has put such a hardship on small businesses and farmers, the holiday season is a great opportunity for the community to come together and support each other by buying their food and gifts locally.

On Saturday, the BCFM will have an outdoor holiday market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boyle County Extension Office’s new pavilion. The office is located at 99 Corporate Drive
