Paul Raney
1954 – 2020
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Paul Raney of Lancaster, Kentucky in his home by his adoring wife’s side on Monday, December 7th, 2020, after reaching the age of 66 years old. Paul was born on October 22, 1954 in Danville, KY to the late Otha Clarence and Gertrude Lee Raney. He was a beloved husband of 46 years to Connie Joh Bryant Raney. Even more beloved were his children, Chantal (Richard) Pummill and Shaun (Danielle) Raney. Paul had an unparalleled work ethic, shown by doing whatever he could to take care of his wife and children over the years. He had a kind spirit and good heart, making him the best husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Paul lit up when his children walked into a room, especially his grandchildren. Evelyn and Guinevere Raney, aka Poppy’s TaterBug and Sweet Pea, melted his heart and we are blessed that he was able to spend time with them before departing this world into Heaven. He was a lover of classic cars, music, playing the drums with his fellow band members, and above all else, God. Paul’s favorite scripture states, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18). He is preceded in death by his brothers, Algrit, Ronald, and Danny Raney; his sisters, Mildred (Raney) Simpson and Astera (Raney) Readnour; his son-in-law, Richard Pummill. In addition to his wife, children, and two granddaughters, he is survived by his siblings, Virginia (Raney) Grubbs, Nancy (Raney) Clem, Margaret (Raney) Shockley, Shelia (Raney) Lear, Teddy Raney, and Jimmy Raney. Paul will be remembered by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
