Catherine Huffman

1919 – 2020

Catherine Elizabeth “Chink” Huffman, 101, of Danville, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Landmark of Danville. She was born on April 11, 1919 in Lincoln County, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Patience Edwards Collier. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Huffman. Catherine graduated from Crab Orchard High School, attended Spencerian College and later graduated nursing school to become an LPN. She worked for Kentucky State Hospital and Garrard County Memorial Hospital. She loved to ride horses, farming with her family and gardening. Catherine was a strong willed woman, who loved her family. Surviving are two sons, William Keith Davis (Ellen) of Taylorsville and David Ballard (Diana) of Danville, two daughters, Patience Ensslin (Edward) of Danville and Brenda Jo Smith of Garrard County, two sisters, Clara Wyler-Boyle and Netha Hoskins, both of Crab Orchard, grandchildren, John Smith (Mary), Sam Smith, Marty Smith, Lisa Smith Daughtery (Mitchel), Mark Ballard (Kim), Ben Davis, Brian Davis (Maria) and Kimberly Ensslin Schultz (Paul), seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Catherine is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tamra Johnson and great grandson, Brandon Smith. A Private family graveside service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Bellevue Cemetery with Bro. Don Garland officiating. A special thank you for the excellent care given to Mrs.Huffman by Connie Barlow and the late Edna Griffith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association.
