1948 – 2021

Linda Martha Barnard, 72, of Danville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on February 7, 2021 in Lexington surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to surviving parents Robert and Anne Kneesel. She was married to Greg Barnard of Danville for 53 years. Linda is also survived by sons, Justin (Shelly) Barnard of Lexington, Ky and Darren (Laine) Barnard of Leawood, Ks, her grandchildren, Grace, Leah, and Jacob Barnard of Lexington and William and Clara of Leawood, Ks, as well as Sophie and Max Belcher of Lexington. Two surviving brothers, Robert Kneesel of Las Vegas and Thomas Kneesel of Pleasant Prairie, Wi. Linda has multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. She graduated as an adult from the University of Kentucky, majoring in fundraising for the arts. She taught piano for 30 years and was a devout member and leader of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Linda loved reading and the arts. She was a board member of the originally renovated Boyle County Library. She was a founding member of Danville’s Angle of Repose Book Club. She was a member of the P.E.O. (sisterhood of Philanthropic Educational Organization), a 30 year member of Beta Sigma Phi and many other charitable organizations. Linda had unconditional love for everyone. The world is definitely a better place for her having been in it. A funeral mass will be held at 11am Thursday, February 11, 2021 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony McLaughlin officiating. Visitation will be from 10am-11am.
