On Wednesday, Danville’s director of codes enforcement/ABC administrator Bridgette Lester and city manager Earl Coffey hand-delivered Small Business Relief Grant checks to 14 different businesses impacted by COVID-19. Lester said one business was closed until Friday, so they postponed delivering that check.
Lester said Danville CARES program consisted of $150,000 total allocated from federal funds the city received, and each business eligible could receive $5,000. She said to date on Wednesday, the city had received 28 applications with 24 processed and four pending additional paperwork. Due to the amount of money allocated, she said the number of businesses the city can assist with checks is limited to about 30 total.
The program is for businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19 shutdowns that meet certain criteria.
