Limb pick-up in Danville
Danville’s Public Service Department will be conducting a one-time curbside collection of winter storm debris beginning Monday, March 8. City residents should have all limbs, brush and debris pulled to the curb so that crews can collect it. There are no size limits and limbs don’t have to be cut into shorter sections. If you have any questions you may contact the Public Service Department at 859-936-6835.
Valentine’s Day event rescheduled, new location
Caring Friends Valentine Drive-through event has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28 from 12:30-1 p.m. The location has also changed to be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 401 Waveland Avenue in Danville.
Friends of the Library to host virtual tour of the DBCAAHS History Center
The Friends of the Library continue their 2021 programming with a virtual tour of the Danville-Boyle County African American Historical Society History Center on Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The tour of the center, which is located on Second Street in downtown Danville, will be led by Michael Hughes, president of DBCAAHS. Hughes will also talk about what developments are coming in the future.

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer auxiliary support group for the Boyle County Public Library. They host numerous programs throughout the year and provide funding for the library’s summer reading and summer outreach programs.
The library is open Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, free WiFi is available in the library parking lot 24/7. Chat with library staff using the live chat service on the library’s website or by texting (859)-545-8398.
Garden Club to meet
The Garden Club of Danville will meet Wednesday, March 3, at 1 p.m. under the new large pavilion at the Boyle County Extension Service, 99 Corporate Drive.
The program will be “Clark’s Run Environmental Education Corporation.” The speaker will be Preston Miles, Centre College Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus. He will talk about CREEC’s mission: Protecting and enhancing Clark’s Run as a community resource for Boyle County.
Bring a chair and wear a mask.
The design will be an underwater design. Horticulture will be spring bulbs.

Senior commodity distribution scheduled
The monthly Boyle County Senior Commodity Distribution for March will be Thursday, March 4 at Danville First Church of God. Seniors will be able to stay in their car and have their food box loaded.
The federal government requires annual recertification of income so seniors will need to be prepared to give their income amount, if they haven’t already done so. Also, for those seniors (60+) not currently participating in the program and would like to know if they’re eligible may call 859-236-4700. The income guidelines for seniors have recently increased due to the pandemic and all eligible seniors are encouraged to check this out to help with their food needs.
