WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) supported funding for a personal protective equipment (PPE) grant awarded to the Perryville Fire Department.
Guthrie voted in favor of funding for first responders to acquire PPE in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) used money authorized by the CARES Act to award the Perryville Fire Department a $1,971 grant to purchase respiratory equipment.
“I’m thrilled the Perryville Fire Department will benefit from federal funding in the CARES Act to help purchase personal protective equipment,” said Guthrie. “Our local firefighters need resources to buy equipment to protect themselves from COVID-19 as they respond to emergencies. I commend firefighters with Perryville Fire Department for continuing to protect the community throughout the COVID-19 public health emergency, and I hope the risk of COVID-19 is soon removed for Kentucky first responders and all Kentuckians with safe and effective vaccines.”
