1939 – 2021

Roberta Ann Griffin Hiller, 82, of Lexington, died Thursday, March 4, 2021. Born in Danville on February 13, 1939, she is the daughter of the late, Frank G. and Charlotte Hainesworth Griffin. “Bert” attended First Baptist Church as a child and Northeast Christian Church in Lexington. Roberta’s most important treasure in her life was her family. She grew up in a large family and, even though her Mother died when she was young, they were taught that family was most important.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Robert Dale Whitehouse, a grandson, Bryan Keith Whitehouse, her brothers, Frank Griffin, Robert Lee Griffin, James Griffin and Thomas Griffin and her sisters, Lillian Janet Griffin, Rose Marie White, Betty Jane Cahill and Martha Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Jennings Hiller and her children, Diana Whitehouse (Kenneth) Carey of Lexington, William Donald (Julie) Whitehouse JR. of Smithfield, Ky., David Wayne Whitehouse of Danville and Terry Dean Whitehouse of Lexington; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Gail Griffin, Barbara Lynn (Fox) Spoonamore, Mary Lewis (Jim)Lester, Goldie (Richard) Sanders and Jacqueline “Deedee” Pollard.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 1570 N. Danville Bypass. Rev. Tim Mathis will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Billy, Brandon, Bradley, Zachery, Nicholas, Shane Whitehouse, Josh, and Chris Carey. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be made to any charity that benefits children. Visitation will be Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masks and social distancing will be required. The online guestbook and Hugs from Home Cards are available at
