Marvin Lane

1958 – 2021

Marvin Eugene “Chubs” Lane, Sr., 63, of Moreland passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Born January 21, 1958, he was the son of the late William Orville and Nannie Hazel Gillock Lane. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Wayne Lane and Darrell Lane, and sister, Charlotte Brown. Marvin liked to write, especially poetry and was a master at telling “corny” jokes. He loved old cars and watching Westerns like Gunsmoke and Rifleman. He enjoyed being outdoors – cutting wood, mowing, and feeding the birds. Yet, his favorite thing was to eat GOOD FOOD. Since 1984, he pastored General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Casey County. He loved giving, preaching, attending church gatherings, and being with his church family. He loved spending time with his wife, kids, and especially his grandkids. However, his number one thing was serving God and doing His will. Marvin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Cummins Lane; sons, Marvin Eugene Lane, Jr of Moreland and Joseph Darin (Diana Renee) Lane of Stanford; brothers: Willis Lane of Hustonville, Roy Lane of Indian Creek, and Marshall (Tina) Lane of Indian Creek; sisters, Sharon (Donald) Elmore of Indian Creek and Deanna (Brad) Brock of Hustonville; and three grandchildren: Anna, Abby, and Elan. Visitation is 5-8 pm, Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral Service is Saturday at 1 pm with Bro. Johnny Schoolcraft and Bro. Roger Bunch officiating. Burial is in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Darin Lane, Elan Lane, Aaron Brock, Philip Elmore, Tom Leonardi, Brian Madden, and Marvin Lane, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Lane, Timmy Lane, David Lane and all his “second sons” that he loved like his own…too many to list.
