The Boyle County Schools board of education held a ribbon cutting for the new Woodlawn Elementary School, located in the old Boyle County Middle School building, on Thursday night, unveiling some of its key features.
Principal Bernice Bates gave a tour of the building. When students returned to in-person instruction on March 1, many of them hadn’t seen the new building. Superintendent Mike LaFavers said kids have pointed out some of their favorite things about it, ranging from the multi-colored tile lining the hallways — Bates said every student has a favorite color — to the safety features of the building, which he said one first-grader noted.
