1966 – 2021

Lori Estelle Jarnagin Rankin, 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home on April 9, 2021. She was born June 15, 1966 in Daytona Beach, Florida, and grew up there loving the beach and riding her pony, Duchess. She attended Holly Hill Elementary, Campbell Junior High and Spruce Creek High School, but then moved with family to Virginia where she graduated from Madison High School in 1984. She met the love of her life, Dan Rankin, when he picked her up for a friend from the airport in Lexington, Kentucky. They were married April 10, 1989 and settled on his family farm in Danville. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Clayton Tyler, and Audra Danielle. Lori’s children were her whole life and the center of her existence. Lori’s biggest project was researching Autism to provide a better life for her children. She was a devoted mother to her last breath. Lori had a passion for caring for animals. She is predeceased by her father, Fred Jarnagin, and sister Catherine Jarnagin.

Lori is survived by her husband Dan Rankin, her children Clayon Tyler Rankin, Audra Danielle Rankin, her mother Eloise Cartwright of Florida; two sisters Deborah (Kenneth) Jarnagin of Florida, Angella (Donald) Jarnagin of Danville; her brother Matthew (Julie) Jarnagin of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be 1pm, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Jonathan Grizzell will officiate. Visitation will be 4pm – 6pm, Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Autism Society of America, a cause near and dear to Lori’s heart.
