Boyle County High School graduating seniors had their graduation ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the turf at the athletic complex outdoors.
The ceremony had been postponed from when it was scheduled to be held on Friday, due to weather.
Graduation was student-run, with student speakers. Many of the speakers noted the unique circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic under which the Class of 2021 spent their last year of high school and graduated. The ceremony was fairly traditional compared to last year’s graduation, which included a parade. Still, students were socially-distanced outdoors, and several wore masks.
The graduating Class of 2021 was the first to have their ceremony outdoors on the turf, socially distanced, and the first to begin their final year of high school working virtually from home in their pajamas, one student noted.
