GARDEN CLUB OF DANVILLE

For many years, the Garden Club of Danville has been delivering flower arrangements to local community service organizations, city and county offices, and health care services in celebration of National Garden Week in early June. These floral gifts of appreciation celebrate the beauty of flowers and the benefits of gardening.

This year club members made 37 deliveries during the week. Carol Senn, left, director of the McDowell House Museum, received a bouquet from club member Linda Porter.

Kathy Miles, who organized the project, said she was struck by how flowers make people smile. “It’s fascinating to see people’s faces light up when they receive flowers. Maybe we could call flowers a universal stress reliever!”
