Ruth Elise (Johnson) Hunt

1921 – 2021

Mrs. Ruth Elsie (Johnson) Hunt, 99, of Seymour, passed away June 12th, 2021 at 1:55AM. Ruth was born on December 31, 1921 in Tampico, Indiana, the daughter of Oren Ray and Goldie E. (Morgan) Johnson. She was one of 11 children. Ruth was a member of American Legion Aux., Unit 0089, Veteran of Foreign Wars Aux. Post 1925, Eagles Aux. 655, Elks Club all of Seymour, IN. She was baptized at and a member of Tampico Baptist Church, Tampico, IN. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, of almost 54 years, Walter Leon Hunt; her brothers, Ray Earl Johnson (her twin), Glen Oren Johnson, Carl Lee Johnson, and Dale Ralph Johnson; her sisters, Ova Irene Garriott, Esther Lorene Wright, Mary Faye Ruddick, Doris Marie McKain Benge, Edna Maxine Jones; and her grandson John Thomas Ross, Jr. Survivors include their 2 daughters, Jerlyn Sue (Dr. Tom) Ross, of Danville, KY, and Wendy Lee (Tom V.) Shadrix of Sarasota, FL; 4 grandchildren, Heather (Tommy) Lester of Danville, KY; Thad Hunter Ross of Cynthiana, KY, Shawn Hunt Shadrix of Charlotte, NC, and Mikayla Shadrix of Panama City, FL; 3 great-grandchildren, Dr. Madelaine (Bob) Sindorf, Ross (Annie)Nolan, and Emma Nolan. She has one living sister, Donna Elizabeth Bryant, of Salem, IN. She has a big host of extended nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Cremation was chosen as Ruth requested. There will be a graveside service and burial to honor her life on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at 11AM, at the Crothersville Cemetary, Crothersville, IN. Adams Funeral Home and Crematory are handling local arrangements. Afterward the graveside service, there will a luncheon, from Noon to 5PM, for family and friends at the Methodist Church Annex in Crothersville, IN.
