Danville police work multi-vehicle crash

Danville Police responded to the area of Perryville Road and the North Danville Bypass Wednesday at approximately 5:35 p.m. for reports of an injury traffic collision that had occurred.  Danville City Fire and Boyle County EMS also responded to assist.

A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Clay Peavler, 35, of Danville, was traveling southbound on the Bypass when he struck a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Mary Gooch, 55, of Stanford, who was stopped in traffic near Perryville Road.  Peavler then struck a 2019 Dodge Ram truck, driven by Steven Reynolds, 23, of Harrodsburg, who was also stopped in traffic.

As a result of these two initial collisions, Reynold’s vehicle struck a 1998 Dodge Ram truck, driven by Richard Carlson, 66, of Cowan, Tennessee, who was also stopped in traffic.  A 2020 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Michael Parker, 33, of Junction City, was also struck and damaged in the collision.

Reynolds and his passenger, James Maxwell, 23, of Harrodsburg, were treated on scene by emergency crews and transported via ground ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.  Emergency crews extricated Peavler from his vehicle using the jaws of life mechanical tool.  Peavler was also treated on scene and transported via ground ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.  The extent of their injuries was not known at press time.

As a result of the collision, the southbound lanes of the Danville Bypass were shut down for over one hour while emergency personnel conducted their investigation and clean up.  The roadway was re-opened at 6:50 p.m.
