Library to host dinosaur-themed escape room

November activities continue at the Boyle County Public Library this week. The library is currently hosting Dinosaur Discovery, an exhibit featuring over 120 fossils and castings from Dr. John Hankla’s curated collection. More information about the exhibit, including a virtual tour, can be found at BoylePubLib.org/Dinosaurs. In addition to the exhibit, library patrons can also enjoy interactive activities including crafting projects, gaming events, book clubs, plus a family movie night later in the month. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming activities at the library:
STEM Day Kits for Tweens and Teens
The library is gearing up for National STEM Day. Starting on Friday, November 5, pick up a kit to engineer your own marble run at home. Kits will be available at the library while supplies last. Then on Monday, November 8 from 4:00-5:30 PM, join us in-person for STEM activities including 3D printing, robotics, LEGOs, K’NEX, Snap Circuits, and more. This event will be held in the Community Room. Masks are required. (Ages 9-18)
Game On!
Teens are invited to play video games at the library on Fridays from 4:00-5:20 PM beginning November 5. Battle with friends in Super Smash Bros or race in Mario Kart 8. This event will be held on 5th Level of the library. Masks are required. (Ages 13-18)
Teen D&D
On Saturday, November 6 from 2:00-4:00 PM teens can play what some call the greatest role-playing game of all time. At this in-person event, players will venture through campaigns that will test their ability to work together and conquer foes in this tabletop adventure. Registration is required to play. DIY Fabric Pumpkins
Decorate for fall and Thanksgiving with DIY fabric pumpkins. Pick up a kit to make these no sew pumpkins at home starting Thursday, November 11, while supplies last, or join us in-person that afternoon to make the pumpkins from 4-5:30 p.m.. This event will be held in the Conference Room. Masks are required. (Ages 9-18)
Jurassic Escape!
On Saturday, November 13 at 2:00 PM, teens and tweens are invited to race against the clock to escape from the Jurassic Garden before the dinosaurs attack. This event will be held in the Reading Garden at the library. Masks are required. In the case of inclement weather, a virtual escape room will be made available. (Ages 9-18)
Board Games Club for Adults
The library will pull out its collection of board games on Saturday, November 13 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Adults are enouraged to bring a friend and try out some new games or play old favorites. The library has games for all levels of players and staff eager to show you how to play. This after-hours event will be held in the Community Room at the library. Masks are required. (Ages 18+)
