The Danville community is invited to assemble on the steps of Danville City Hall Monday, Jan. 17, at noon for the beginning of the local Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

A speaker will address the crowd briefly before a group march takes place from city hall eastward down Main Street to Jennie Rogers School, where they will arrive at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The program will begin at 12:45 p.m. with everyone being welcomed, followed by speakers, musical selections, and a closing benediction.

Following the completion of the program, a “grab and go” lunch will be offered for everyone in attendance to take home with them.

The Danville Boyle County African American History Center may be open in the afternoon to welcome visitors.

A bus will provide transportation for anyone needing it back to city hall following the march.
