George Lee Long, 77, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Born on October 9, 1944 in Danville, KY to the late Carmen and Serilda Long Caudill. He retired from Lincoln County Road Department and United LN Glass and RJ Reynolds, where he worked in maintenance. George was a former member and Deacon at Calvary Hill Baptist and current member and Deacon at Gilbert’s Creek Baptist. He was a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge #60 F&AM and a longtime member of the Dix River Coon Club. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Long of Stanford; two children, Donna Walls (Jimmy) and Troy Long (Angie); four grandchildren, Kyle Walls (Rachel), MaHaley Long Goode (Wade), Jarred Long and Daven Long; and one great-grandson, Jase Walls; one brother, Riley Caudill (Judy); one sister, Shirley Dotson (Lester); and several step-brothers and step-sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen Long and Serilda Long Caudill; one sister, Lucy McKinney; one brother, Gene Long; and one brother-in-law, E.J. McKinney. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. The Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday; public visitation will continue after the service. The funeral service will be on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Morris Traynor and Dr. Jerry Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Kyle Walls, Jarred Long, Daven Long, MaHaley Goode, Wade Goode, William “Bill” Caudill and Lynn Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Gilbert’s Creek Baptist Church and members of Lincoln Lodge #60 F&AM. |
