The actors at Pioneer Playhouse are starting to wrap up rehearsals for the second showcase of the summer – “Southern Fried Nuptials.” The show will premiere July 5 and run through July 25.

The cast says rehearsals have gone great so far and everyone is hitting their stride in anticipation of the debut performance. Despite having new cast members, most of the cast from Dracula Bites is returning. That has helped tremendously with on-stage chemistry.

Playhouse regular Patricia Hammond, who plays Dorothoy, said the cast will be ready.

“Although there are new characters, rehearsal has been easy because this play is the sequel to what we performed last year, so we already have familiar lines and acting,” Hammond said.

Hammond is excited for the second play of the year because she gets to play a more engaging character in this show.

“In Dracula Bites there was a character but it was just so comic, but this play is such a pleasure because I get to react to people’s feelings,” she said.

Jimothy Beckholt plays Carter Canfield, one of the main love interests in the play. Although Beckholt was not in the play prior he said his transition into this performance was effortless thanks to how welcoming and professional the cast is.
