Janice Lowe Fenwick, age 80, of Danville, KY went home to be with her heavenly father on Friday, July 8, 2022. Born in Mackville, Kentucky on January 19, 1942 to the late Sidney and Lillian Katherine Milburn Lowe, she was the middle child of four girls and one boy. She graduated from Mackville High School in 1960 with high honors and at the top of her class. After graduation, Janice worked at Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance until she married. Janice married Leon Fenwick on Christmas Day, 1964. They were married for 57 years. Throughout their marriage she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In 1979, Leon’s job required a transfer to Macon, GA, where they lived for almost 20 years. They moved back to Kentucky in 1998 after Leon retired. She always strived to have a good home cooked meal for the family as Leon worked many long hours. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was very devoted to her faith. Janice spent countless hours helping her girls with homework, making crafts and just spending time with them. She was a great cook and loved to bake special things for her family. When her granddaughter, Jessica, came along she was right there for her, always doing fun activities, reading to her, and helping her with homework when she started school. Janice was a unique person with a pure heart. She always made sure everyone around her was taken care of. She was supportive regardless of what the circumstances might be. She was always willing to help a stranger in need and never treated anyone differently. She reminded everyone to not look down at other people, because you could easily end up in the same situation. Janice lit up every room that she was in with her contagious laugh and her radiating smile. She loved making corny jokes, coming up with goofy antics, and dancing like no one was watching. Janice was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. She loved to talk to everyone and anyone, especially about current events and life “back in the good ole’ days”. She spent every holiday and every birthday she possibly could celebrating with her family all under the same roof. Janice is preceded in death by her brother, James Neal Lowe on January 2, 2021 and her sister, Margaret Bunch on March 28, 2018. Janice is survived by her husband, Leon Fenwick; two daughters, Michelle Fenwick and Denise McWhorter; a grandson, Zach (Ashley) McWhorter and a granddaughter, Jessica McWhorter, all of Danville; two sisters, Debra Lowe of Danville and Gladys Carney of Springfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Tobe Yankey officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville. Serving as pallbearers were David McWhorter, Patrick Lowe, Larry Hampton, Henry Hoffman, Junior Daugherty, and Jeff Elmore. Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
