Shaker Village hosting Harvest Fest this weekend

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill will host its annual Harvest Fest event this weekend.
The event, sponsored by Foundation Risk Partners, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. This down-home fall celebration is family friendly and offers something for everyone.
Activities include hayrides, pumpkin painting, pony rides, haystack climbing, farm games, archery and a hay maze. Shoppers can pick up local honey, breads, jams and more at the onsite Harvest Market. Farm animals will be out in the paddocks to interact with visitors.
The event also offers a unique learning environment with heritage demonstrations on apple cider pressing, milling sorghum, working with hemp and blacksmithing.
Live music performances will be showcased throughout the event. Food trucks will be on hand for lunch and snacks, as well as an outdoor bar for adult beverages. Other food options include reservations at The Trustees’ Table restaurant, and grab-and-go selections from the Post Office Shop.
Entrance to Harvest Fest is included with general admission to Shaker Village, which grants access to historic tours and exhibits. Admission is $14 for ages 13-61, $7 for ages 6-12, and $10 for seniors, first responders and active military. Admission is free for children 5 and under.
Shaker Village also has fall events every weekend in September and October:
• Hayrides – Hop on a hayride and discover how the Shakers’ beliefs defined their community. Every Friday and Saturday, September-October at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for ages six and up and free for children under five.
• Spirit Strolls – Take a guided lantern lit stroll to the 1811 Shaker Cemetery. Along the way you’ll learn about some of Pleasant Hill’s darker moments, and learn about the burial traditions of this now departed community. Every Friday and Saturday, September-October at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Annual Passholders and $15 for Non-Annual Passholders.
• Music on the Lawn – The Trustees’ Lawn is the place to be every Friday and Saturday evening from 5:30-8:30 p.m., September-October. Grab a drink from the outdoor bar, gather around the fire pit and settle in for an outdoor concert from local and regional musicians. Admission is free.
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is a landmark destination that shares 3,000 acres of discovery in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. With 34 original Shaker structures, the site is home to the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings and is the largest National Historic Landmark in Kentucky. Onsite services at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill include overnight accommodations, dining, beverage and catering services, three craft shops, exhibitions in historic buildings, a farm and garden area and 1,000 acres of restored native prairie.
