Julie Weissinger Benedict, 73, completed her circle of life on this earth on her dear mother’s birthday, October 4, 2022. She was born September 7, 1949 to James John and Katherine Divine Weissinger. Julie is survived by her daughter, Erin Kelli (Tom) Price and two granddaughters, Chandler Aubree Hendren and Kyndal Rae Price. Additional family members include Dr. Richard Jackson Jr., Marjorie Jackson (Tony) Morrell, and Katie Swain. Julie hosted high school exchange students from Italy (Cami and Clara), from Austria (Maggie), and from Switzerland (Camille). She traveled extensively and researched her Weissinger ancestry to find the original home place of her grandfather (Rudolph) in Rappottenstein, Lower Austria. She wrote three books detailing her family history back to the mid 1600s. Julie enjoyed a sisterhood of friends, many of whom shared her work in public service in Human Resource Development. Her hobbies included travel, genealogy, painting pet portraits, and raising her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. She was blessed with neighbors and friends who shared her final months of life, bringing joy and laughter to her world.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Stith Funeral Home. A private Mass will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cavalier Rescue, 5330 Technology Lane, Birmingham, Alabama 35217.
