On Thursday, the Boyle County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy and Hope Networks sponsored their annual First Responders Thank You Lunch as a token of gratitude for their service to the community.
“We began these Thank You Lunches in 2016, when we had a really challenging year with the drug crisis,” said Boyle County ASAP Coordinator Kathy Miles. “Our first responders were struggling with the overdose deaths and extra work they were doing because of addiction issues in the community. Since then, we’ve expanded the people to whom we deliver, to groups like Department for Community Based Services, Salvation Army and Family Services. They are really first responders in so many ways.”
Co-sponsers of the lunch were The Show Room, Gary and Patti Chidester, Brittany Lafavers, Preston and Kathy Miles, Trinity Episcopal Church, Mimi Becker, Trevor Short, Shea Hawkins and Northpoint Training Center staff, Cindy Arnold, Spero Health, James Hunn and Mary Conley.
Meals were prepared by Southern Plate Catering and Melton’s Deli.
