Holiday events kick off Friday in Perryville

Perryville is kicking off the holiday season with a multitude of events the weekend after Thanksgiving for the “It’s A Wonderful Life Christmas” celebration.
Friday is Christmas Movie Night. There will be a free showing of “It’s A Wonderful Life” at Magnolia Manor. The movie is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at Hillcrest Cemetery at 1 p.m. and a Christmas During the Civil War event beginning at 2 p.m. at the Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site.
Celebrations continue downtown with holiday family photo spots, horse-drawn carriage rides, Christmas caroling, a live nativity and Shop Small Saturday.
Other events scheduled for Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. are a wreath-making class at Perryville City Hall and a Historic Holiday Home Tour starting at 207 South Buell St. at the Johnson-Britton House. There will be a Ghost Walk Saturday at 9 p.m.
Tickets for the wreath-making class and tour can be purchased on Main Street Perryville’s Facebook page.
At 6:30 p.m., the Perryville Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin. Line up for participants in the parade is at 6 p.m. at Perryville Elementary School.
After the parade, there will be cookies with Santa and a meet-and-greet with local authors at Magnolia Manor.
