Kristopher A. Jones, 40

Kristopher A. Jones, 40, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, in Auburn, surrounded by his family after a lifelong battle with Muscular Dystrophy and cancer. Kris was born June 14, 1982 in Danville, Ky. Even in death, his unrelenting refusal to admit defeat presented itself, as he pre-arranged transport to the wrong funeral home in the hope of cheating death one last time. An accomplished software programmer and avid gamer, Kris prided himself on his top-of-the-line computers and took joy in watching his friends suffer bodily injury to build them for him. It is also rumored his Kindle collection rivaled the lost Library of Alexandria. Though on the surface, his crotchety, know-it-all, get-off-my-lawn demeanor was off-putting, it would occasionally give way to a glimpse of his incredible humanity, which greatly endeared him to the people who tolerated him long enough to be present for those brief, fleeting moments. Kris is survived by his parents, Stephenie and Mike Wooten, and Gerald Jones; brothers, Marcus Jones and Alex (Keli) Wooten; sister, Elizabeth (Adam) Hoffman; niece; Madelyn; his loving grandparents; many aunts and uncles; cousins and many friends who he called his family along with his best friend, who feels entitled to spousal benefits but will settle for writing this obituary and knowing he finally got to have the last word. A Caribbean sendoff will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Fort Wayne with Coca-Cola and Kraft singles being served. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ProMedica Hospice or code.org at donatecode.org/krisjones. Arrangements by Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main St., Auburn.
