Jeanette Leah Carter Phillips Pullum, age 81 of McKinney, KY passed away on Sunday, December 25 at her home she shared with her daughter. She was born on March 5, 1941 in Covington, KY to the late Otis “Obe” and Bula Barger Carter. Jeanette was married to the late Otis Phillips from March 26, 1960, until September 1, 1979. and to the late Ralph Pullum from November 20, 1983, until February 14, 2015.
Jeanette was a former caregiver for the elderly and a founding member of the former Freedom Pentecostal Church in Waynesburg, KY. She and her husband, Ralph also hosted a Christian radio ministry for 14 years on what was then WRSL radio. She was currently attending Green River Pentecostal Church as her health allowed. She loved her family and enjoyed watching Christian television programs.
Survivors include her son, William “Billy” Phillips (Chasity); her daughter, Betty England (the late Jim); her grandchildren, Ashley, Casey, Lindsey, Leah, & Jared; 8 great- grandchildren and one due in May; a nephew that was raised as her brother, James Wren; and a sister-in-law; Betty Carter.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Funeral service will be on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Naylor officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Hustonville, KY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Helen “Bea” Pruitt, Margaret Little, and Bessie Greer. Brothers; John Neves, Robert Carter, and Phillip Carter. Her son-in-law; Jim England, who helped care for her until his passing.
Pallbearers will be; Billy Phillips, Jared England, Casey Phillips, Greg Carter, Jamie Greer, and Arthur Greer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Pruitt and Jim Wren.
