This week’s featured pets are Ace and Buddy, two long-timers who have been living the shelter life for a while: Ace has been here since May, and Buddy joined us in July. Both boys have watched so many of their pals leave while waiting patiently for their turn. Let’s find them a loving family before another month passes.

Ace is a handsome three-year-old mixed breed. He’s got a tan and white coat with black markings reminiscent of a German shepherd, and at 45 pounds, he will make the perfect snuggle buddy to keep you warm this winter.

A shy guy, Ace first approaches strangers with his head down and holds his cautiously wagging tail close to his body. Once he’s within reach, Ace will let you scratch behind his ears and pet his head. The more he warms up, the more Ace wants your attention. He’ll even stand up on his hind legs to hug you and give you kisses.

Once he’s comfortable, this loving boy is high energy and will dart around the yard with a grin, leaping and bouncing. His spurt of activity ends with more loving, snuggling, and hopefully, a belly rub. Ace will thrive in a home that will allow him the space and time to unwind, show his true self and bond with his family. Are you the one to help dear Ace grow into the confident dog he’s meant to be?

Buddy is a sweet and slender pup with cute black and brown markings on his white face. An estimated year and a half old, he is young, submissive, and eager to please: a winning combination that bodes well for training. He’s a high-energy guy and loves to run around.

For example, when we open Buddy’s kennel door, he’s gone like a shot, racing into the yard with excitement. During playgroups, he lets loose, running and sniffing the fence and detecting all the interesting smells in the air.

Buddy always has an eye on the humans, though, and checks in frequently to get an ear scratch or gently take a treat. After he gets his zoomies out and sniffs all the things, Buddy will melt into you and insist upon getting belly rubs. If you’re looking for a pup who can be your “best Buddy,” look no further.

Buddy and Ace are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to blossom in a loving home.
