Library offers free activities for all ages

NEWS RELEASE

The Boyle County Public Library offers free activities, special events, and online resources for the community. Programs include crafting, interactive games, STEM activities, and weekly storytimes. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming events at the library:

Teen D&D

On Saturday, January 14 from 2:00-4:00 PM teens can play what some call the greatest role-playing game of all time. Players will venture through campaigns that will test their ability to work together and conquer foes in this tabletop adventure. Registration is required to play. Go to www.boylepublib.org/teendnd to register. (Ages 13-18)

Morning Storytime & Afternoon Storytime

Join us for storytime at the library! Each week we will read stories and have a themed sensory activity for young children to enjoy. Storytime will be held Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM and Thursday afternoons at 12:30 PM in the youth department. Toddlers and preschoolers are all welcome to attend with their caregivers. (Ages 2-5)

Crafternoon

On Tuesday afternoons at 3:15 PM, kids and tweens can explore their creative side at the library. All skills levels and imaginations are welcome to participate in new craft activities each week. The goal is to have fun creating something uniquely yours! This event will be held in the youth department.  (Ages 5-12)

Homework Hangout

On Tuesdays in January from 3:30-5:30 PM, middle schoolers are invited to come to the library to hang out, work on homework, read, relax, snack, and breathe. January can be harsh, but this hangout time is not. This come-and-go event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 11-14)

Crafting for Keeps

At this program series you will be guided through the process of making a craft that you get to keep. On Tuesday, January 17 at 6:00 PM we will be making Bird Seed Wreaths. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Third Thursday Book Club

In January the book club will be reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Join the book discussion on Thursday, January 19 at 10:30 AM in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Makerspace Engineering

Kids and families are invited to put their engineering skills to the test on Thursdays at 3:15 PM. There will be time for free build, followed by weekly challenges. We’ll be using LEGOs, Keva planks, K’nex, and marble runs.

This event will be held in the youth department. (Ages 5-12)

Game On

Teens are invited to play Nintendo Switch and board games at the library on Fridays from 3:30-5:30 PM. This event will be held on the 5 th Level of the library. (Ages 13-18)

Chess Mix

On Saturday, January 21 from 2:00-4:00 PM, visit the library and enjoy an afternoon of chess and a savory snack.

This program is for all skill levels. This event will be held in the Reading Room. (All ages)

Adult D&D

The library offers a Dungeons & Dragons club for adults that meets at the library on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Adults can join a session on Sunday, January 22 at noon or 4:30 PM. No experience is necessary, but registration is required. To register, sign up at the library or email library@boylepublib.org. (Ages 18+)
