Lexington man cited in accident

STAFF REPORT

At 9:30 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 10, Danville Police, along with emergency crews, were dispatched to an injury collision on Hustonville Road at the intersection of the Danville Bypass.

During the investigation, officers determined that a Honda Accord operated by Jerod Smith, 42, of Lexington was traveling south on Hustonville Road. Smith failed to stop, and rear ended a Nissan Murano operated by Evaristo Perez Tecum, 28, of Danville. The impact caused the Nissan to be pushed into a Dodge Ram pickup operated by Anna Lee, 62, of Danville.

Tecum was cited on scene for no operator’s license and no insurance. After interviewing Smith and conducting a series of field sobriety test, officers believed Smith was under the influence. Smith was arrested and taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center to be treated for an ankle injury.

After being medically cleared Smith was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence. No other injuries were reported. Danville Police were assisted at the scene by Boyle County EMS and Danville City Fire.
