Ernest John Schnitzler, 91, of Ottenheim passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 after a short illness. Ernest was born in the community Ottenheim, in Lincoln County, Kentucky on September 13, 1931, a son of the late Pauline (Troester) and Hugo Schnitzler. He was the husband of the late Mary Fred (Leedy) Schnitzler who preceded him in death on October 19, 2016. Ernest was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and a former Master Conservationist. Ernest had worked most of his life as a farmer and he enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors Include his Daughter, Melinda & Husband Randall Staviski of Independence, Ky; Daughter, Patsy Robertson & Husband Jack of Lexington, Ky; Daughter, Janet & Husband Ronnie Reynolds of Ottenheim; Granddaughter, Michelle & Husband Michael Hightower; Granddaughter, Morgan & Husband Dillon Abney;
Granddaughter, Lesley Reynolds; Great Grandson, Landon Hightower; Sister-In-Law, Linda Gilliam; Brother-In-Law, Bill Ed Leedy, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ernest was preceded in death by a Sister, Emma Chance and a Brother, Charles Schnitzler.
Pallbearers were Eddie Leedy, Robert Gilliam, Mark Gilliam, Mike Link, Raymond Schuler, Jeff Stickler, Lewis Reynolds and Joe Miller. Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Goetz, Greg Goetz, Everett Bruffett.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Jimmy Closterman officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5 until 8:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church located at 4110 Ky Hwy 643, Waynesburg, Ky
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Care of The Lincoln County Historical Society.
