Boyle BOE accepts donation for “The Little Mermaid;” amends school calendar

During the Boyle County School Board meeting on March 17, the board accepted a donation of $4,000 from Whitaker Bank.
The donation is for the Boyle County Performing Arts Center to support the upcoming spring musical production of “The Little Mermaid.” The show dates are April 13 to 15, and 20 to 22.
The board voted to approve a change order of $11,011.20 from the Brett Construction for the construction of the new softball field. The price includes providing additional earth, trenching rock, locating gas lines, and electrical upgrades to the press box.
The project is on schedule and the new field did not receive any damages from the wind storm earlier this month. The new softball field is expected to be fully operational by the second week of May.
In other news from the Boyle County School Board:
• The board has amended the school calendar, and the final day of school for students will now be May 19. High School Graduation will be held on May 20.
• The board has been continuing discussions about applicants for superintendent with the superintendent search committee. There have not been any other updates in the search.
