Garland Vest, 89, of Danville passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Walker’s Trail Senior Living. Born in Gilpin, KY on June 30, 1933, he was the son of the late Lucy Elmore Vest and Wallace Vest. Garland was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years and mother of his children, Reva Mae Vest, and his wife of 12 years, Lois Vest. Garland was a United States Air Force veteran and had retired from American Greetings as an engineer after 42 years with the company. He was a charter member of Indian Hills Christian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. Garland enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and playing golf and cornhole. He also enjoyed bargaining at sales and auctions. Survivors include his 4 children: Debrah (Bob) Pierce of Lawrenceburg, Melinda (Kirby) Stafford of Danville, Steven (Kelly) Vest of Danville, and Jody (Shana) Vest of Danville; his brother: George (Teenie) Vest of Casey County; 4 grandchildren: Scott (Cortney) Stafford of Frankfort, Chris Vest, Morgan Vest, and Macee Vest all of Danville; and 2 great-grandchildren: Sophie and Millie Stafford. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, at Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Odis Clark and Bro. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Watson Chapel Christian Church Cemetery in Casey County. Pallbearers will be Bob Pierce, Kirby Stafford, Scott Stafford, Chris Vest, Morgan Vest, and Macee Vest. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and caregivers of Legacy Lane at Walker’s Trail Assisted Living.
