Dot Thomas Stallard, 84, of Danville, entered her heavenly home on April 7, 2023, to join her
husband Billie, daughter Beckie and family. Dot lived a life of extraordinary service to her community
and church. She worked for the Kentucky State Human Resources office for 27 years helping countless
people find work and hope. Dot and Billie were Christian lay ministers and missionaries. They planted
the Danville Deaf Baptist Mission and went on many home and foreign mission trips through the
Northern American Mission Board of the SBC.
Dot was proud to be a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). She adored her parents Charles A. and Myree
Thomas, and the Kentucky School of the Deaf. Dot’s God-given skills as a Registered Interpreter of the
Deaf helped countless people. Interpreting was Dot’s passion, her purpose in life and she made herself
available 24/7/365 to the deaf in central and eastern Kentucky. Dot stood in the gap of countless human
crises, helped interpret the birth of babies, interpreted music concerts in Rupp Arena, and in whatever
circumstance a person who is deaf needed an interpreter Dot would be there. She mentored many
interpreters and her compassionate spirit, loving hands, and infectious smile will be missed.
Dottie and Billie were parents and foster parents. They are survived by three sons, Chuck and Cindy
(Case) Stallard, Doug Stallard, Dan and Donna (Coffman) Stallard, and foster daughter Sharon and Arthur
Clem—thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City with Rev. Jerry Browning officiating. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023. Pallbearers will be Justus Stallard, Clint Followell, Will Stallard, Jordan Stallard, David Davis, II and Wade Stallard. The burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
