Police make arrest in gun incident

At 3 p.m. Saturday, Danville Police responded to Papi’s Smoke & Vape at 500 S. 4th St. in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon. Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Akili Simpson, 22, of Danville confronted another male subject in the parking lot. During the confrontation, Simpson brandished a handgun, and loaded a round in the chamber while confronting the victim, police said. Simpson was taken into custody without incident by Danville Police and charged with menacing. The handgun was recovered at the scene.

BCFD responds to blaze

Boyle County Fire Department received a call at 8:58 p.m from Danville 911 Center reporting a possible line of trees on fire in the Scrubgrass Road area in the Mitchellburg /Forkland community. Upon arrival, BCFD found smoke and fire conditions along the tree line and a small unoccupied structure was on fire. The hillside nearby was burning as well. Once BCFD arrived on scene the fire was knocked down and under control in a short time as access to the property was difficult with the fire being located in a wooded area on a hillside. Boyle County Fire was on scene about 90 minutes.
