Mel Hankla, a noted writer, collector, craftsman, researcher and speaker on Kentucky heritage and an authority on the history of the Kentucky Longrifle, will present “Into the Bluegrass” on Thursday evening, May 11 at 5:30 p.m. 

Sponsored by the St. Asaph Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the event will begin at 5:30 with light refreshments at the Art Center of the Bluegrass, 401 West Main, Danville.  Tickets are $20 and can be reserved by phoning 859-324-9766.  Limited tickets will be available at the door.  All proceeds will benefit historic preservation.

Hankla, born in 1956 on the banks of the Cumberland Lake in Jamestown attended Western Kentucky University earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees and his Educational Doctorate from WKU and University of Louisville Cooperative Doctoral Program.  He serves on the Museum Board of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and on the Advisory Board of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts.  Mr. Hankla is a member of the Kentucky Material Culture Collectors and prestigious American Society of Arms Collectors.  Hankla, a prolific writer, has authored many books and will have autograph and have books available for sale during the evening.
