One of the most unique fundraisers in the area returns May 19-20 at Pioneer Playhouse. The Art-full Affair is held only in odd-number years and is the primary fundraiser for the Arts Commission’s programs and scholarships for area children. The focus of the Arts Commission is to reach out to children and families to ensure that all have access to the arts and arts activities.

Since 2005, the every-other-year events have raised more $80,000 to help support scholarships to drama camps, the Heritage Area String Program, Danville Children’s Choir, free live theater performances for schools, summer art and book kits, and concerts among other special activities.

What makes the event special is that every ticket holder will go home with a fabulous piece of art. Each ticket includes admission for two to the Preview Party on May 19 from 7-9 p.m., and the Draw Party on May 20 from 6:30-9 p.m. Ticket holders enjoy music, refreshments, and a cash bar on the 19th while they plan their strategy for selecting a piece of art on the 20th when their name is drawn.

A live auction of selected art is held on Saturday, the 20th with pieces from Sheldon Tapley, Cheryl Chapman, Brook White, Ann McWilliams, and others. Any ticket holder may bid during the live auction. A silent auction will be on going Friday and Saturday evening. The Draw begins at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6:30 on Saturday for last-minute viewing, refreshments and a cash bar.

Tickets are $100 and are limited. For more information, contact Mimi Becker at arts@historicdanvilleky.com or 859-691-0316.
