The Boyle County Public Library offers numerous free activities, special events, and services for the community year-round. Interactive activities often include storytimes, crafting, and book clubs. This month library staff have scaled back their regularly scheduled youth events to prepare for an activity-packed, all-ages summer reading program, which kicks off on May 31. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming events for adults at the library:

Adult D&D

The library offers a Dungeons & Dragons club for adults that meets at the library on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Adults can join a session on Sunday, May 14 at noon or 4:30 p.m. No experience is necessary, but registration is required. To register, sign up at the library or email library@boylepublib.org. Crafting for Keeps

At this program series you will be guided through the process of making a craft that you get to keep. On Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m. we will be making hydro-dipped mugs – an easy craft that makes a colorful and artistic addition to any drinkware collection. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Third Thursday Book Club

In May the book club will be reading The Cat Who Went Bananas by Lilian Jackson Braun. Join the book discussion on Thursday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Celebration of Kentucky Writers

On Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the library will host the first event of the 26th Jeanne Penn Lane Celebration of Kentucky Writers and Songwriters’ Showcase. The event will feature writers from many disciplines, all with a Kentucky connection. Authors will be reading from original works, with many holding book signings. This event will be held in the Community Room.

Authors include Darlene Franklin Campbell, Bill Carman, Gloria Casale, Chris Helvey, Debra Ison, Kasimma, Maurice Manning, Doris Settles, Richard Stuecker and Richard Taylor.

In addition to the event at the library, the weekend celebration continues with two events at other locations. A Songwriters Showcase, featuring musicians from around Kentucky, will be held at Morley’s Backyard in Danville on Saturday, May 20 beginning around 6 p.m. The celebration will wrap up on Sunday, May 21 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at a homecoming event featuring music and readings at historic Penn’s Store in Gravel Switch. This is free and open to the public.
