Boyle County Detention Center inmate saves another inmate with Heimlich maneuver

An inmate at the Boyle County Detention Center demonstrated quick thinking Monday, potentially saving the life of another female inmate. According to reports from detention center deputies, inmate Josephine Filbert administered the Heimlich maneuver to a choking fellow inmate.

Deputies responded to a medical emergency in a female cell and observed Filbert taking immediate action to dislodge an obstruction from the other inmate’s airway. Thanks to her quick and decisive actions, a potentially tragic outcome was avoided.
