Golf scramble nets nearly $70,000 for foundation

The Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation held its annual charity golf scramble at Danville Country Club on May 8. The event consisted of an 18-hole, four-person scramble, luncheon and various health-focused booths. Thirty-six teams were represented between a morning and afternoon flight.

Chris Davis won “Closest to the Pin” and received a gift card from Bluegrass Hospitality Group and a 10-person tour from Taylor Made Farm. Jon Napier won “Longest Putt” of the day and took home a swag bag and Bluetooth speaker from APS Communications. Kyle Best snagged a set of rocks glasses from BourbonWare for the “Longest Drive.” Third place overall was awarded to Wehr Constructors of Lexington shooting a 23-under par by team members Cam Ruddell, Brandon Berry, Derrick Pittman and Dale Whitaker. Second place went to Meridian Wealth also shooting 23-under par by Jacob Tamme, Jeremy Brummett, Adam Tamme and Stephen Turner. The 2023 Champion title went to Central Kentucky Restoration where Jeremiah Akers, Jared Person, Travis Rodgers and Brian Hayes shot 24-under par.

The event raised just under $70,000 for the foundation’s mission of enhancing health care initiatives throughout Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Mercer, Lincoln and Washington counties. Each year the foundation funds activities for Ephraim McDowell Kids Can Do Pediatric Therapy Center such as Camp Can Do and Camp Healthy Kids; providing opportunities for kids with disabilities to participate in summer camp. Additionally, the Foundation supports community efforts by funding AED Grants, scholarships, state-of-the-art medical equipment and free community health services and screenings.

The Foundation’s next event is the annual Luminosity Gala on August 26 at The Barn at Daynabrook Farm in Harrodsburg. Tickets will go on sale in June.
