Judith Gail Adams, 83, of Danville, died June 26, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. Born December 27, 1939, in McCreary County, the second of eight children, she was the daughter of John C. Howard and Mary E. Swain Howard. Her career began at Genesco, where in her off time, she pitched for the women’s softball team. She completed her work life as a Systems Engineer for Mathews Conveyer, where she whimsically appeared in homemade costumes at holiday parties and picnics. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She had an endless drive for learning, taking classes in everything from auto mechanics and basic electricity to trigonometry and banjo. She taught country line dancing to rooms full of two-steppers and as an avid quilter, often pushed the boundaries creating unique patterns based on her love of geometry and computer aided design. She helped a team paint large outdoor quilt patterns mounted on barns around the area. An adventurous traveler, she accompanied friends or family to many Kentucky state parks, Gatlinburg, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas-Fort Worth, Boston, Atlanta, the North Carolina coast and both coasts of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cynthia Curtis, siblings John Howard, Janice Padgett, Joseph Howard and Jeff Howard.
She is survived by her son, Blaine (Kathy) Adams; son-in-law, Larry Curtis; and siblings, Janette Alexander, Jerry Howard and Jennifer Howard. She is also survived by step-grandsons, Jeremy (Jessica) Curtis and Adam (Sara) Curtis; and step-great grandchildren, Ellie, Ivy and Jasper who affectionately knew her as GiGi.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Stith Funeral Home in Danville on July 15, 2023, at 11:00 am. An online guestbook is available at www.stithcares.com.
