NEWS RELEASE

The Wilderness Trace Community Foundation announces the creation of a permanent endowment fund to maintain trees which shade the public way in Danville and Boyle County.

This endowment is an outgrowth of the Danville Tree Project, which has raised money each year to plant trees in Danville. The tree project, spearheaded by Centre professor Beau Weston, takes funds from many citizens, matched by the Kentucky Utilities Foundation, to plant about 50 trees per year. The trees are selected by the Boyle County Extension Office, and planted by the City of Danville.

The Boyle County Tree Endowment will fund part of the time of an extension office worker to water and maintain the trees every summer. The Endowment is funded by donors to the Danville Tree Project, the Weston Family Fund and the Wilderness Trace Community Foundation.

WTCF helps agencies in Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties carry out a variety of good works. For more information, visit www.cflouisville.org/wilderness-trace-community-foundation.
