3-county chase ends in arrest

A Lexington man was arrested and is facing several charges after leading deputies on a multi-county chase.

At approximately 4:58 a.m. on July 31a Boyle County deputy observed a vehicle making multiple violations on U.S. 68 near Perryville.

The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Claunch Road. The vehicle initially stopped and while the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver, eventually identified as Justin Scott of Lexington, abruptly took off accelerating at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle continued into Mercer County on U.S. 68 into Harrodsburg before turning onto Mooreland Avenue/Mackville Road. Scott continued onto several backroads before entering Washington County. He eventually entered the city limits of Springfield where it finally came to a stop in front of the library. Scott was taken into custody with no further incident.

Scott was determined to be under the influence, according to deputies. He also had an active parole warrant and was driving on a suspended license.

Scott was charged with operating motor vehicle under the influence, DUI suspended license, reckless driving, speeding, wanton endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper start, license plate not illuminated.
